2027 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Redesign: Every Change From 2026
The 2027 Silverado 1500 is all-new, and GM calls it the most powerful and advanced Silverado ever. GM Authority counts it as the first year of the fifth-generation truck. The trim count drops from nine to seven, both V8s are new, every trim gets a 16.3-inch touchscreen, and Super Cruise is now offered on four trims. Here's each change, trim by trim and system by system, from the Knudtsen Chevrolet team in Post Falls.
Our 2027 Silverado 1500 overview covers the whole truck in one place. This post sticks to what's different from 2026.
Exterior Styling
Every 2027 Silverado gets new LED headlights and taillights as standard, set into a new front fascia. The Drive describes the headlights as a stacked design with a thin upper light and a C-shaped lower element.
The wheel-opening moldings and rocker treatments are more pronounced, and The Drive notes the bed skin is reworked too. Dual exhaust is now standard on Custom and every trim above it.
Some trims get their own pieces. The High Country has an exclusive Tritan Satin grille, a new High Country badge and 22-inch After Midnight-painted wheels. The ZR2 rides on 35-inch mud-terrain tires, and both Trail Boss models get a 2-inch lift and 34-inch mud-terrain tires.
Trims: Nine Becomes Seven
The 2027 lineup has seven trims, and GM Authority reports that's down from nine. Here they are with GM's starting prices, which include the $2,795 destination charge.
| 2027 trim | Key 2027 detail | Starting price |
|---|---|---|
| Work Truck | Duramax diesel now offered | $41,395 |
| Custom | Dual exhaust, 20-inch Technical Gray wheels | $46,395 |
| Silverado | New name for the LT | $50,695 |
| Custom Trail Boss | 2-inch lift, 34-inch MT tires | $57,195 |
| Trail Boss | Was LT Trail Boss, per GM Authority | $63,995 |
| High Country | Standard panoramic sunroof and Super Cruise | $74,495 |
| ZR2 | Standard Super Cruise, new Baja drive mode | $79,995 |
GM lists the trim as "Silverado (formerly LT)," and Chevrolet.com labels it Silverado (LT/Z71). On Silverado-trim 4WD models, the Z71 Off-Road package (skid plates, hill descent control and off-road suspension) is now standard. GM Authority reports the RST and LTZ are discontinued. Its writer guesses the Silverado trim covers those buyers too, but says that's his own assumption. The 2027 Silverado trim levels guide compares all seven, and the Silverado trim page covers the old LT's replacement.
ZR2 Bison Edition pricing is not yet released.
Engines
Two of the four engines are new: a 402-horsepower 5.7L V8 replaces the 5.3L, and a 481-horsepower 6.6L V8 replaces the 6.2L.
The 2.7L TurboMax gains 40 horsepower (now 350) and swaps its 8-speed automatic for a 10-speed, so every engine uses the 10-speed. The 3.0L Duramax keeps the same 305 horsepower and 495 lb-ft, according to Edmunds, but it's now offered on more trims, including the Work Truck. Edmunds reports there's no hybrid for 2027. Every Silverado keeps a column shifter, per The Drive.
Towing moves around, too. GM Authority figures the 5.7L's 13,700-pound max is 2,400 pounds more than the old 5.3L could tow. Our post on the new 350 and 400 small-block V8s has the full engine story, and the 2027 Silverado towing guide covers every rating.
Interior and Screens
Every trim, Work Truck included, now has a 16.3-inch center touchscreen and a 12.2-inch digital driver display.
They run GM's new interface with Google built-in (Google Gemini, Google Maps and Google Play apps) plus Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The High Country and ZR2 add an 11.5-inch front passenger screen, a head-up display and a rear camera mirror, for more than 60 inches of combined displays.
The cabin also gets a panoramic sunroof, a Silverado first. It's standard on High Country and available on ZR2, Trail Boss and Silverado. A reconfigurable Multi-Flex center console is available. Materials split by trim: real wood on the High Country, real forged carbon-fiber trim on the ZR2, and fabric accent inserts on the Trail Boss. Our 2027 Silverado interior and technology post goes trim by trim.
Safety
Four driver-assistance features are newly standard for 2027, and GM Authority says none of them were offered on the Silverado 1500 before.
- Front Pedestrian and Bicyclist Braking
- Intersection Automatic Emergency Braking
- Reverse Automatic Braking
- Side Bicyclist Alert
Chevrolet says every Silverado has more than 15 standard safety and driver assistance features. GM Authority lists Adaptive Cruise Control, Blind Zone Steering Assist and Forward Collision Alert as standard on all trims. A Cabin Glance interior camera is standard on High Country and ZR2 and available on the others.
Super Cruise
Super Cruise is standard on 2 trims, the High Country and ZR2, and available on 2 more, the Silverado and Trail Boss.
The ZR2 is the big change here, because The Drive notes the outgoing ZR2 didn't offer Super Cruise at all. The system now supports hands-free driving with a trailer up to 13,600 pounds, though Lane Change on Demand and Automatic Lane Change are switched off while towing. It also adds a 3D view of traffic, lane markings and objects. GM says it covers about 630,000 miles of compatible North American roads. Standard Super Cruise includes 3 years of the OnStar One plan, and after that you need an active Super Cruise plan.
Pricing and Launch Timing
Prices run from $41,395 to $79,995 including destination, and GM expects the truck to go on sale at the end of 2026.
Chevrolet.com lists the truck as available late 2026, with orders opening later this year. GM Authority reports the V8 trucks launch first, starting with the Trail Boss, ZR2 and High Country, and that TurboMax production ramps toward the latter half of the first quarter of 2027. If that holds, TurboMax trucks will show up after the V8 trucks.
