Trim levels for the 2018 Chevrolet Cruze sedan are listed as L, LS, LT and Premier, while the hatchback is only available in LT and Premier trims. The diesel engine comes in an LT Diesel trim for both body styles. Powering all but the LT Diesel model is a 1.4-liter turbocharged inline-4 engine that makes 153 horsepower and 177 lb.-ft. of torque, mated to a six-speed manual transmission on the L trim and a choice of an optional six-speed automatic on the others. The LT Diesel is equipped with a 1.6-liter four-cylinder diesel engine that develops 137 hp and 240 lb.-ft. of torque.
Buyers receive excellent fuel economy, no matter which version they select. The base four-cylinder block delivers a range of EPA-estimated 28 mpg city/37 mpg highway at the low end for the hatchback with the manual transmission and 30 mpg city/40 mpg highway at the high end for the sedan with the automatic transmission.* The diesel engine provides incredible fuel economy, with 30 mpg city/52 mpg highway with the manual transmission and 31 mpg city/47 mpg highway with the automatic.
Standard safety features include four-wheel antilock disc brakes, full-length side curtain airbags, front and rear side-impact airbags, front knee airbags and stability control. The OnStar emergency telematics system is also standard. LT and Premier models can get the optional Driver Confidence and Driver Convenience packages for even more safety and convenience features.
