After a 2021 redesign, the Chevrolet Tahoe is back for 2022 with a long list of noteworthy changes. First off, the available 6.2-liter V8 is now optional in the RST, Z71 and Premier trim levels. According to the Spokane Chevrolet dealer, the off-road-focused Tahoe Z71 trim now has an electronic limited-slip differential. There’s a new standard 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster for the LT and higher models, and all trims get Google Assistant capability.

The Tahoe also has some new driver assistance equipment, including a new Buckle to Drive system, which prevents the driver from shifting the vehicle into drive unless all front-seat occupants have buckled their seatbelts. There’s also a new optional camera system.

Customers of the Spokane Chevy dealer tell us they love the Tahoe’s spacious interior. It has room for seven or eight passengers, depending on whether buyers choose the standard second-row bench or the optional captain’s chairs. They also appreciate the cabin’s leather-trimmed seats and soft-touch materials.

The automotive press gives the 2022 Chevy Tahoe great reviews. Kelley Blue Book named the 2022 Tahoe one of the Best Family Cars of 2021, writing: “Yes, it’s still based on a truck (the Chevrolet Silverado) and uses a traditional body-on-frame construction, but it has more space and a comfier ride than ever before, plus impressive towing abilities, as well as a decent amount of modern tech. The Tahoe is a perennial best-seller among full-size SUVs in the United States. ... Not everyone needs a huge, 3-row SUV that seats up to nine people, but those who do are lucky enough to have this as one of their choices.”

The 2022 Chevy Tahoe can be configured to meet every need. Six trim levels are available, listed as LS, LT, RST, Z71, Premier and High Country. The Tahoe Z71 comes with all-wheel drive. The other models get standard rear-wheel drive and optional all-wheel drive. A 10-speed automatic gearbox sends power to the wheels.

The Tahoe employs a standard 5.3-liter V8 that puts out 355 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque. Drivers who need more power can choose the 6.2-liter V8 that’s standard in the High Country and available in the RST, Z71 and Premier. It generates 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque.

Those looking for a diesel block will want the 3.0-liter six-cylinder turbodiesel engine that produces 277 hp and 460 lb-ft. This unit is available in all trims except the Z71. As you might expect, this engine provides the best fuel economy figures, with an EPA-estimated 21 mpg city/28 mpg highway.*

Standard features for the base LS include 18-inch alloy wheels, LED exterior lighting, keyless entry and ignition, remote start, cloth upholstery, power-adjustable front seats, tri-zone climate control, heated side mirrors, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, side steps, rain-sensing wipers and two 120-volt outlets. Also standard is a 10.2-inch infotainment touchscreen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a six-speaker stereo setup, satellite radio (three-month trial subscription), Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and USB ports.
